This is part eight in a multipart series that investigates how Onport matches up against similar solutions in the market. In this edition, we look at Convictional and how it compares to Onport.

Ecommerce can be stressful - many things can wrong at the same time, this is simply a fact of life when operating an online marketplace. In order to combat these issues, it is vital that you have a solid foundation in terms of operations and support.

You need to know that whatever software you are using, that you’re in safe hands, and whichever platform you are using to run your store is one on which you can rely. There are many options available, each with its own particular pros and cons. Today, we’ll look at Convictional, a multi-store solution, and how it compares when placed head-to-head with Onport.

Integrations

Convictional has a particular focus on integrations regarding Shopify, BigCommerce, and WooCoomerce. You can also use the Convictional API to connect to other platforms as well as using CSV files. While Shopify, BigCommerce, and WooCoomerce are the main storefront platforms you are likely to come across, Onport supports these and many more - including Prestashop and Elastic Path as well as others.

Aside from just storefronts, Onport also hosts a powerful mix of different integrations - no store is a store without payment gates so thankfully Onport supports both PayPal and Stripe. You also have to ensure your product gets to the end customer so rest assured, Onport integrates with excellent platforms like Shippo and Shippypro to help cover your shipping operations.

So, whether you wish to incorporate your storefront, your shipping carrier, your payment processor, tax advisor, or your inventory management system - Onport can facilitate a seamless migration for you. You can also use the Onport API if that is something you require. Why not find out more about our integrations here.

Features

Features of convictional include automated ordering, fulfillment, invoicing, and vendor payouts. These are the features that any standard marketplace solution should offer so these alone don’t make convictional stand out as a unique platform.

This is a solid feature set that may be enough for many companies. However, for those who plan to really exceed the expectations of their customers, they may need to consider other options.

When it comes to features, Onport offers a wide variety of tools that can help automate and simplify your operations - from order routing to inventory management, shipping to payments, and tax, Onport is designed to alleviate the pain points that often exist when running an online marketplace.

From a dedicated vendor portal to shipping labels, advanced warehousing to custom implementations, Onport can transform your operations. One core advantage of Onport is that we take your comments and suggestions onboard - meaning we listen to our customers and make the adjustments that they wish to see. Composable

Both Onport and Convictional offer composable commerce to our users.

A part of our offering at Onport is the ability to incorporate composable architecture into your stack, allowing for more flexibility and a truly bespoke marketplace experience. What is composable architecture?

The best way to think about composable architecture is, here at Onport, we offer you an assortment of high-level pre-composed infrastructure elements to use as you see fit - this allows our customers to sculpt unique customer touchpoints and experiences as well as deliver series performance.

Our composable approach is based upon the principles of MACH - Microservices, API-first, Cloud Native, and Headless. These principles ensure the best possible approach to creating unique and engrossing customer journeys and experiences. Find out more about our composable offering now.

Verdict

Convictional is a solution with some impressive features. Convictional has a larger focus for EDI feeds, this is not a strong focus for Onport. This suggests that they have a more B2B focus than we here at Onport. However, in many other areas, Onport is the more suitable solution for those who require a B2C marketplace solution.

Convictional charges a percentage for GMV for its pricing plans, up to 3%. Depending on your volume, this can add up. This is in contrast to Onport as we do not currently charge a commission for any of our plans. We also have pricing page with information regarding SKU and order numbers - you can check it out here. We understand that when it comes to running a busy marketplace, time is quite literally money so anything that can help speed up the process is greatly appreciated.
